In its most basic form the composite is a thin flexible sheet material of impregnated textile. The material is cut into pattern shapes and assembled in numerous layers in an outer cover with adjustable shoulder and waist fastenings and worn as a body armour vest.
The Praetorian multi-threat vests are specified to Police and personal protection levels.
Praetorian multi-threat vests have been qualified to the following levels by the internationally recognised Police Scientific Development Board (PSDB):
UK PSDB HG1A/KR1/SP1
UK PSDB HG1/KR1/SP1
UK PSDB HG2/KR2/SP2
UK PSDB RF1 (Hard armour plates)
The vest can easily be fragmentation qualified (PSDB V50=550m/s) for military specification.
(The PSDB standards are comparable to the USA NIJ standards)
As an armour it has the following inclusive properties:
The armour material is made from Aramid fabric which has undergone the impregnation treatment. This process makes the material waterproof as well as enhancing the ballistic and knife resistant properties. The treatment also gives the material outstanding fragmentation protection.
The Covers are warranted for a period of 12 months.
The Armour material is warranted for a period of 5 years
