Praetorian Associates' Managing Director, Martin Beale, demonstrated a range of the security specialists' latest products to an audience of high-level military personnel at Camp Slayer's Black Hawk ranges.
To open the demonstration, Beale demonstrated the lack of Blunt Trauma protection from a standard NIJ IIIa vest against single shot and burst fire from an MP5 9mm by firing 3 x .45 at each vest.
Each demo vest was backed by a Roma Plastilina which showed extensive blunt trauma (Back Face Deformation) with the standard vest, however the Praetorian vest resulted in minimal B.F.D.
Beale then demonstrated Praetorian's AK 47 plate by firing three 7.62 x 39 AP shots. Two rounds hit the plate, one missed. Beale fired another and had a double hit (Round on round) that penetrated the plate and soft armour. He asked for another shot, which held. Overall five shots fired, four on the plate three held with one being round on round.
Beale then demonstrated Praetorian's 54 Plate with three 7.62 x 54 AP shots. All rounds held - one in the plate and remnants of a fragmented round held in the top two layers of the vest.
Next in the demonstration came Praetorian's Up armour vehicle Panel & PKM Plate. Beale fired three 7.62 x 54 AP burst fire. All rounds held.
Beale then showed a typical civilian Toyota Estate vehicle fitted with a set of up-armour door and seat panels with optional additions including glass protection (laminated) and other specified panels for the vehicle. He reminded those present that Praetorian has the ability to respond to specific requests about design and protection levels.
The demonstration broke for lunch before moving on to Praetorian's ECM demonstration.
This equipment, as with Praetorian's armour, is far more effective than any other Jammer currently on the market.
Beale demonstrated the unit at the following frequencies: 27Mhz, 49Mhz, 312Mhz, 318Mhz, 433Mhz, 462Mhz, 800-900Mhz, and 1800-1900Mhz
which represent some of the primary threat frequencies associated with Radio Controlled IEDS. These frequencies encompass devices such as toy car controllers, wireless doorbells, car alarms, two-way radios, FRS radios, 2meter band radios, cordless phones, and cell phones.
The ECM kit that was demonstrated covers all frequencies from 20Mhz to 3Ghz which covers the current primary threat table. The system can be expanded to cover up to 6Ghz as a standard equipment option.
Beale highlighted the primary differences between Praetorian's equipment and other available ECM equipment
1. Praetorian's equipment is not effected by obstructions such as buildings, walls, or crowded vehicle areas.
2. The jamming signal is directed towards the ground level in a 360-degree manner causing the RF energy to conform to all types of terrain. This is of critical importance!
3. Because many roadside IEDS are positioned below the road plane or obstructed by guardrails or built in to curbing, other ECM jammers cannot protect against IEDS placed in this manner due to the nature of their antennae.
4. The Praetorian ECM equipment demonstrated was 100% effective against all threats, and at jamming IEDS positioned in areas one meter below ground, surrounded by concrete and steel rebar.
5. There is zero chance of pre-detonating using Praetorian's equipment.
6. Praetorian's equipment is covert, with no visible antennas.
7. ULTRA LOW THERMAL SIGNATURE.
8. Simple to operate, very low maintenance.
9. Local, in-country service for all equipment.
10. Easy to install in any vehicle with a 24-volt electrical system.
Beale fixed a number of widely-used electrical devices around the demonstration area, which was filled with wall, building and vehicle structures that would have extreme effects on current jammer technology. Beale showed each device working; in particular he placed a device (Door Bell) one metre below ground level. He then turned the Praetorian ECM equipment on and walked the same circuit again demonstrating that each electronic device had been disabled.
Finally Beale demonstrated a unique device called a Time Domain Reduction System (TDRS) that is directed at EOD units. He showed that the TRDS device disables any typical timing device operated by a standard cell phone (Madrid Bombings) or any solid state timing unit, by turning it off. EOD personnel can then dismantle the device with no concern of a countdown threat.
Beale closed the demonstration by reminding those present that Praetorian is dedicated to providing leading technology products specifically for saving and protecting lives. The company is serious about being in country, and accommodating all requests for services. |
